United States Leadership Forum

About Us

The United States Leadership Forum is an independent organization working to identify solutions to our most critical problems.

We work closely with Congress; federal, state, and local government officials; nonprofit organizations and professional associations; the business community; and the military.

Areas of focus include: defense, homeland security, energy, clean technology, the U.S. Gulf Coast, and disaster response. The United States Leadership Forum is comprised of individual groups to focus on each of these critical areas, including the Defense Leadership Forum, the Homeland Security Leadership Forum, the Energy Leadership Forum, the Clean Technology Leadership Forum, the Gulf Coast Leadership Forum, and the Disaster Response Leadership Forum.

What is unique about the United States Leadership Forum?

First, in an era when Washington leaders are tearing each other apart, leading to gridlock, we literally bring leaders together in a nonconfrontational approach to discuss solutions to our critical problems. We do this through a variety of forums, but our most successful approach is the Roundtable, where leaders can effectively discuss strategies for making our country a better place.

Second, we are creating an institutional memory for the best solutions to address our critical problems. Often in Washington, when one party leaves power, so do its best ideas and strategies, leaving the new party in power to start from scratch. This is an extraordinary waste of excellent ideas. We catalog the best ideas, present them to leaders, and track their implementation over time.

Founded in 2010, the United States Leadership Forum has already developed an impressive track record.

In 2010, the Homeland Security Leadership Forum organized the Capitol Hill DHS Anniversary Reception and Showcase, featuring then-Coast Guard Commandant Thad Allen. The Clean Technology Leadership Forum organized the Capitol Hill Clean Energy & Climate Change Roundtable and Showcase, featuring senior Members of Congress and key officials from the U.S. Department of Energy. Following the April, 2010 BP oil disaster in the Gulf of Mexico, the Disaster Response Leadership Forum identified nontoxic dispersant alternatives and brought together hundreds of leaders at oil spill disaster response conferences along the U.S. Gulf Coast. In September of 2010, after communications broke down between the federal government and the State of Arizona, the Homeland Security Leadership Forum organized the Capitol Hill Border Security Roundtable, featuring the Vice Chair of the House Homeland Security Committee and senior officials from U.S. Customs & Border Patrol.

In 2011, the Gulf Coast Leadership Forum convened the main first anniversary BP oil spill event, featuring U.S. Senator Mary Landrieu, BP oil spill czar Kenneth Feinberg, and 700 participants. The Clean Technology Leadership Forum convened a series of briefings on the clean energy and energy efficiency needs and programs of the U.S. Department of Defense, featuring top Pentagon officials. The Energy Leadership Forum convened LOUISIANA ENERGY DAY, featuring U.S. Senator David Vitter and leaders from both the oil and gas industry and the renewable energy industry. And the Homeland Security Leadership Forum convened the 10th Anniversary Homeland Security Summit to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the September, 2001 terrorist attacks.
